At the end of the month, it’s easy to measure results.
Matches won.
Matches lost.
Rankings.

But in tennis, this is the wrong question.

The right one is different:
what kind of tennis player are you becoming?

RESULTS ARE A FRAME, NOT THE MOVIE

A match lasts a few hours.
A career lasts years.

If you judge yourself only by results:

  • one day you’re up

  • the next you’re down

  • nothing solid is built

Results are a snapshot.
The process is the movie.

And growth in tennis means learning to read the movie, not obsess over a single frame.

WHAT REALLY CHANGES OVER TIME

At the end of a month, more than the score, what matters is this:

  • how you react to mistakes

  • how you train on average days

  • how you talk to yourself

  • how you stay present under pressure

These things don’t show on the scoreboard.
But they decide your level.

A QUESTION I ASK MY PLAYERS

When a month ends, I don’t ask:

“How many matches did you win?”

I ask:

“Where are you more reliable than you were a month ago?”

Because reliability:

  • doesn’t depend on the opponent

  • doesn’t depend on the score

  • grows only through consistency

TENNIS IS IDENTITY IN PROGRESS

Every practice, every match, every decision
is shaping a version of you.

  • Are you becoming someone who escapes?

  • Someone who forces?

  • Someone who stays?

Tennis doesn’t judge.
It records.

And over time, it gives back exactly that.

END-OF-MONTH EXERCISE — “IDENTITY CHECK”

Take 10 minutes.

Write honestly:

  1. Where am I more solid than at the beginning of the month?

  2. Where do I still lose myself under pressure?

  3. What attitude do I want to bring into next month?

No promises needed.
Only awareness.

CLOSING

Becoming a better tennis player
is not about immediate wins.

It’s about who you are on court,
how you react,
what you choose to train every day.

The month ends.
The journey doesn’t.

And the question remains open:
what kind of tennis player are you becoming?

Training strokes without training the mind creates weakness.
Training the mind without testing it on court creates fantasy.
