The number one reason for the success of great tennis players, talent and resources being equal, is the desire and intention to succeed.

Intention motivates tennis players to do what is necessary, even if it means stepping out of their comfort zones, especially if they are pushed to do so.

Intention is purely mental.

When intention is combined with positive mental states through the expectation of results, visualization, and practice, great achievements can be reached, both on and off the court.

Remember, results are INCREMENTAL: they are achieved through small and steady steps in the right direction.

However, another important thing is that behind these small progresses must be motivation and intention.

Take Serena Williams, who grew up in an environment not conducive, indeed highly negative, for someone wanting to become a professional in tennis. An environment full of dangers, one that would surely lead her down the wrong path rather than the right one. Summing it up… the odds were all against her.

Thanks to the intention with which she pursued her dream, despite everything she endured during her adolescence, she managed to rise: she made it! Eventually, she became the strongest tennis player!

But how did she manage it? She was intelligent and driven by intention. Her thought was: “Well, what do I need to do to become a professional tennis player?” Then she started training and developed the necessary skills. She desired to achieve excellence, but her fire was fueled by intention and determination.

Intention and motivation determined her actions. She didn’t focus on or dwell on all the reasons that had prevented her from playing well or being immediately where she wanted to be. She saw the glass as half full! And everything around her responded to this positivity.

Some even explain it on the basis of quantum physics: what comes back to us is determined by the thoughts and intentions we have manifested.

Attention ALWAYS follows intention, but one must also believe that such intentions can be realized. It is necessary to be able to imagine them.

However, the starting point is the concentration and focus on a clear intention.
