Have you ever seen that video of a young Rafael Nadal winning his very first tournament?
He’s beaming, smiling like a truly happy child (because he was one).
But here’s the deeper question: how much does winning really matter when you’re young?
In junior tennis, we often get caught in a numbers race:
🏆 How many trophies has he won?
📈 What’s his ranking?
📊 How does he compare to the others?
But the truth is simple: who cares.
👉 Sport isn’t a résumé to build at age 10.
It’s a journey of growth, where victory is a moment — not a destiny.
Look at the greatest athletes of the past 30 years: each followed a different path.
– Some dominated as juniors…
– Others struggled, got injured, even lost their way.
And yet — both types made it far.
📌 Let’s stop obsessing over milestones.
Tennis is a journey, not a trophy collection.
As John Wooden said:
“Success is peace of mind that comes from knowing you gave your best.”
💭 So yes, win if you can…
But most of all — grow.
