We all have good days and tough days on the tennis court… Has it ever happened to you?

Some days, everything seems to flow perfectly: you move well, hit the ball with perfect timing, and find your angles effortlessly. But on other days, nothing seems to go right. It’s completely normal to have “off days,” but that doesn’t mean you can’t win your match or get something valuable out of your training.

Even the best players in the world face tough days, but what makes them champions is how they handle those challenges and still find a way to win.

Tired of losing on your bad days? Let’s see how to turn things around!

1: Focus less on YOURSELF and more on YOUR OPPONENT

Even when you’re not at your best, there are always ways to win. If you focus too much on your struggles, you won’t be able to read your opponent’s game. Who knows? They might be having a rough day too!

Shift your attention to the ball and your opponent. Observe their strengths and weaknesses, and make their game as difficult as possible. If you’re not playing your best, focus on staying solid and keeping more balls in play rather than taking unnecessary risks. The more rallies you play, the more likely you are to discover if your opponent is making mistakes too.

👉 Accept that you’re not at your peak… What can you do RIGHT NOW to increase your chances of winning?

2: See the glass half full

On a bad day, it’s easy to dwell on your mistakes. But that negative attitude will only make things worse! Instead, try to focus on what you’re doing well.

I guarantee that, even on your worst day, there’s at least ONE thing you’re doing right!

For example:

🎾 Missing all your attacking shots but defending well? Great! Make your opponent play an extra ball, increasing their chances of making mistakes.

🎾 Struggling with timing on flat and topspin shots but hitting your slice well? Use more slice! It can be a powerful weapon to disrupt your opponent’s rhythm and force errors.

3: Turn the struggle into a challenge

Try to see this frustrating situation as a personal challenge! How satisfying would it be to win despite having an off day?

If you think of the match as a challenge to overcome, you’ll automatically adopt a more positive attitude. And a positive mindset can literally turn a bad day into a good one!

With this fighting mentality, you’ll appear more confident, move better, and send a clear message to your opponent:
“No matter what, I will fight until the end!” – and that pressure could make them crack.

Remember, champions don’t always play well… but they ALWAYS compete at their best! 💪🎾
